Hobart Burlesque Classes with Miss Kitty's Meow - Hobart

Want to bump and grind like Bettie Page? Or get your Little Egypt on? Been inspired by the glamour of Dita von Teese, Immodesty Blaize or Dirty Martini? Or just want to do something sexy, sensual and entirely for you?

Our burlesque classes provide a first step into the world of burlesque. We'll gently guide you into some of the core techniques of this art form. Our focus is on the art of strip tease -emphasis on the tease!

Each class will revise core burlesque techniques: Burlesque Walk, Bump, Grinds, Shakes and Shimmies. Allow yourself to learn, build and improve these areas each week - work at a pace that suits you!

Whilst we are keen to build up your 'basic' burlesque moves, we also take you through a new skill, trick or a different aspect of burlesque performance every week. We offer a mixture of fully choreographed routines and build up your skill set so you can improvise using basic techniques.

Skills offered include: Feather Boa/Silk Scarf Teasing; Gloves Removal; Stocking Peels; Pin Up Poses; Fan Dancing. Just to name a few!


Instructor: Grace Cherry

Grace Cherry is one third of Hobart's leading burlesque troupe, Miss Kitty's Meow. As a burlesque artist, Miss Cherry has performed since 2007, forming Miss Kitty's Meow in 2008 which kicked Tasmania into a much needed burlesque frenzy.

Miss Cherry is keen to see the art of burlesque passed to like minded students and aspiring performers alike. Whatever the motivation (be it to have fun, increase confidence, or perform) there is something in a burlesque class that she is keen to pass on

As part of Miss Kitty's Meow, Miss Cherry has taken other
beginner-intermediate burlesque workshops in Hobart and has recieved great support and feedback from these students.

Past students include Scarlett Jezebel, Tallulah Tassells, Lady Lola and Oopsy Daisy who have spread their burlesque wings and performed in and outside Tasmania to great acclaim.
Burlesque expertise aside, Miss Cherry has nearly 20 years dance experience, starting dance at the age of 3. She has particular expertise in contemporary, jazz, chorus line and tap dance all of which she brings to her classes.

Drop in for a casual class for $20 per person.

4 Class Passes are $60 and 10 Class Passes $110.

How often you attend a class is up to you and you can start at any time!
